Dan Clayton invests in venture capital funds, secondaries transactions, and co-investments for the Sapphire Partners team with a particular focus on early-stage, technology-focused funds in the US and Europe.
Prior to joining Sapphire Partners, Daniel was a Vice President at SVB Capital, where he focused on primary and secondary investments in both emerging and established venture capital funds, as well as direct co-investments in venture-backed companies. Earlier in his tenure with SVB, he was a member of the Corporate Development team, where he focused on M&A and corporate venture capital investments. Prior to SVB, Daniel spent six years with Hall Capital Partners LLC, where he was an Associate on the Private Equity and Venture Capital investment team.
Daniel completed a Master’s in Business Administration at UC Berkeley (Haas School of Business) where he graduated with honors and was the recipient of the CJ White Finance Fellowship. He also graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Business Administration and is a CFA Charterholder. Daniel serves on the Investment Committee of the Center for Independent Living in Berkeley and currently lives in Mill Valley, California. He’s an avid runner and enjoys exploring the trails in Marin County when he’s not chasing his two daughters around the house.
